- What kind of vacation do I want?
It’sbest to think about the type of trip you would like to do before you get to a travel agent or book anything online. After all most of us only get four weeks of annual holiday so it is worth ensuringyou’re doing precisely what you want! Are you after a relaxing beach holiday or a cultural holiday? Maybe you want to backpack from place to place and really travel the area or leave for a sportyvacation or arrive in Antigua for a exotic honeymoon. Antigua offers all of these possibilities, so think about it hard .
2. What’s my budget
After you’ve decided the type of holiday you want, you should have a peak at the amount you have to spend. Whats the point ofthinking, I want a luxury vacation in a top end resort and I want to do some snorkeling and sip champagne on the white sand if you haven’t got much dough to spare. I think it’s always best to picture your first choice and then try andcome as close as possible with the money you have. Booking Agents are always great with this kind of task. If you go in with a great idea of the things you would like to do and the amount you can spend they will look about and advise on the most appropriate package holiday to Antigua. They are also a good pick for many travellers as they have money off from different hotels and charter flights, cutting costs.
3.What time of year is best to go to Antigua?
Well it all depends on the reason you’re going. Money wise its best to avoid the summer season because costs are without doubt higher when children are out of school. You should also avoid between June and September because this is the hurricane season! Trust me it is not good being stuck in a room with only a monopoly game for entertainment (speaking from my own experience). The middle of April to June and September to November are probably the best months to holiday, assuming you don’t have kids oraren’t worried about bringing them out of school.
4. What are the best things to do in Antigua?
Most tourists go to Antigua to lounge about on its beautiful sandy beaches and have a romantic getaway on an exotic place. But, it would be a waste if you didn’t get involved in the countless things that are on offer here. What about going on a helicopter excursion to view the beautiful land and its coral from a bird’s eye view. Or go beneath the water and dive with the fish and exotic marine life. For people uneasy with diving the diverse coral makes it a great place for snorkeling. Kayaking, surfing, pony treking, island tours and much more are usually available from the tour tour representatives at the hotel you stay in. It is also another point worth talking about with your travel guide as a lot of these can be sorted out before you leave!
5. Keeping safe on my Antigua holiday
The same as any place you go to its important to be discerning and have safety in the back of your mind at all times. Try not to let it take over your holiday, but be aware. Antigua is relatively poor and tourists should be sensitive to that. Most of the people are warm and friendly and welcome vistors who bring money to the economy. But remember there are always some that try to take advantage.
